5 Pet Themed Books to Read by a Cozy Fire

Is the weather getting cold in your corner of the world? There are many wonderful indoor activities you can partake in during the chilly winter months. Here’s a cute idea we came up with to help you make it through winter while still enjoying yourself. This winter, try reading these five pet-related books to yourself or out loud to your furry friend. For added appeal, sit by a cozy fireplace to help with the ambiance and mood.

#1 Marley & Me, by John Grogan: Yes, this is a book that you’ll need to read with a box of tissues, but it’s worth it. Don’t skip the book and watch the movie, either. The book is better and it lasts longer.

#2 Where the Red Fern Grows, by Wilson Rawls: This 1961 children’s novel is about a boy who buys and trains two Redbone Coonhound hunting dogs. It’s a beautiful classic that simply must be read. Expect weeping.

#3 Unlovable, by Dan Yaccarino: This is a shorty, but a goody. This adorable book will teach you a very sweet lesson about being acceptance accepting and being comfortable in your own skin. This is a great children’s book that any pet lover can enjoy!

#4 Chicken Soup for the Soul: The Dog Did What, by Amy Newmark: Do you remember when everyone was reading the Chicken Soup books? Where Well they are still as good as ever! This book will allow you to laugh, cry and smile for so many reasons!

#5 Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo: This is a beautiful read about friendship and how complicated and wonderful it can be. It will warm your heart!
