It is a favorite among many pet people to help with dry skin irritations, itching and scratching. It offers fast relief that dogs and pet owners truly appreciate. Call this product a keeper!

  1. To help remove dirt and dissolve wax buildup from dog’s ears we use Essential Pet Clean Ear Cleansing Liquid. It works great and is very popular for many dog owners, including ourselves. 1. Cats are natural self-groomers. In this self-grooming process, they ingest hair which can build up and cause hairballs. While cat’s have a natural ability to expel this ingested hair, brushing and supplementation with Essential Pet Hairball Soft Chews may help support this process.

  1. Hip and Joint care for ageing dogs is important. Are you currently using a joint supplement for dogs? Try Hip & Joint Mega-Max Care Soft Chews to support joints and mobility. A soft chew is an easy way to give your pet a rewarding treat that they will easily consume and enjoy.

  1. Does your pet show signs of stress? We have a product that offers calming support called Pet-EZE Soft Chews for Dogs. The next time you think your pet will be put in a stressful situation, start to give him or her a calming supplement a few days before and during the event to support their anxiety levels.

  1. If your pet is in need of a food supplement for pregnant or lactating dogs, try Essential Pet Milk Replacer for Dogs. Our milk replacer is designed to meet the nutritional needs of young puppies being weaned from their mother, or bottle-fed puppies progressing to solid foods. Give it a try!

Pet Loss Prevention Tips

Lost dog poster and preventions for dog and cat parents Over 10 million pets are lost each year. One out of three pets is lost during its lifetime and one in ten family pets are found.* While the statistics do not sound too terrible, think about why the nine pets were found. The pet parents most likely took precautionary measures to make sure they were able to find their pet in case it became lost.

If you’ve ever lost a pet you know the feeling of worry, heartbreak and sometimes relief that comes with it. July is National Lost Pet Prevention Month and we’d like to offer you a few tips so you may never have to go through this terrifying experience like so many people do. If you have any other helpful tips for pet owners, feel free to share them with us on our Facebook page. Join in the conversation. We’d love to hear from you.

8 quick tips to help with pet loss prevention:

  1. Always put a collar on your dog or cat with proper identification affixed. Be sure that you don’t forget to update your information when it changes. This is an easy step to forget.
  1. Use a GPS tracker. There are several collars and tags that have GPS capabilities. Imagine being able to simply login to your cell phone app to see where your furry friend is roaming around. How convenient!
  1. Stay alert. Being aware of your surroundings and understanding where there is a possibility of a pet getting away from the home or yard is half the battle.
  1. Keep your screen doors on and/or windows closed. Some cats like to escape through an open window. For obvious safety reasons, keep the windows and doors closed that offer access to an unsecure area outside.
  1. Get your pet microchipped. It’s not as expensive as you might think. Talk to your veterinarian for more information and to see if this option is right for your pet.
  1. Take precautionary measures. Several pets go missing around stressful holidays like the 4th of July. Many dogs and cats are scared of the loud noises that come with this annual event. Prepare your pet with a calming supplement from Essential Pet. This could save you and your pet a lot of grief.
  1. Triple check your surroundings and tools regularly. Take a stroll around your yard to make sure there are no new exit opportunities that have formed. Make sure your pet’s collar and leash are still in good condition. You should also make sure your child or a visitor has not left a gate open in the yard. Feel confident in knowing that your pet is safely playing in the backyard.
  1. Always use a leash outside of the home. Even if you have a dog that’s not prone to run off, you never know what can happen.

Take the proper precautions to help prevent losing a pet. You probably know the feeling and prefer not to experience it. Be sure to take a little bit of time and you might not ever have to know the horrifying feeling again.

New Year’s Resolutions for Pet Owners

happy-new-year-petsHappy New Year! Well, not just yet – but almost! Are you excited for 2016? Do you have any big plans for the upcoming months?

As always, people far and wide are planning and thinking about their upcoming resolutions. It’s likely you’ve taken the time to think about ways to make this year better than the last, but how about for your pet?

In 2016, we challenge you to come up with a few resolutions for you AND your furry friend. Of course a pet can’t be successful without your help, so we are here to get your wheels turning. Below are a few great ways to help start the New Year off right for your dog or cat. Please share your resolutions with us on our Facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/21stCenturyPet.
A happy and healthy pet in the 21st Century is our number one priority!

New Year’s Resolutions for Your Pet:

Is your pet overweight? Over the last several years, pet parents have become more proactive in managing the weight of their pet. Unfortunately, pet obesity is still a common issue today. We love to feed our pets delicious treats and sometimes even unhealthy human food that’s not meant to meet your pet’s mouth. And there are also those pets that sneak into the trashcan when you’re not looking. You’ve gotta love those ambitious dogs! These things and much more can lead to pet obesity. The good news is that a lot of pets have experienced this and there is a lot of help out there. Remember to read the label, see a veterinarian, and try to stay active with your pet. Sometimes for health reasons it can be impossible for your pet to run around like he used to. Luckily, there are ways to work around this. Talk to your pet’s veterinarian if you think you pet has a weight problem.

Brush those teeth! Do you take the time to brush your pet’s teeth? Oral hygiene is incredibly important for your pet. You can even do it yourself. There are many pet stores that offer over-the-counter toothbrushes, pet toothpaste, and much more. Dental care for pets has become very common in the last 10 years. If your pet is uncomfortable with you in his or her mouth with a strange looking object with bristles attached to it, you can always have your veterinarian take care of it for you.

Resolve to play with your pet more often. Life gets busy, that’s no surprise. When your pet first joined your household, did you make more time for him or her? Were there better habits back when life seemed a little bit slower and calmer? We understand. Life can get crazy, but pets need to be shown how much you love them! They need their back scratched or their head rubbed and some good ol’ ball throwing time with the family. Take the time to allow yourself some one-on-one with your loyal companion. Show them you care by taking him or her for daily walks when the weather is appropriate. If you don’t have time to play, at least remember to tell your pet you love him. It really makes a difference.

Help calm your pet with a natural option to help him or her feel more comfortable. Do you have a dog that barks or whines when there are strangers in the home, fireworks going off, or other nervous situations? This year, purchase and try a product called Pet-EZE by 21st Century Pet. It’s exclusively available at PetSmart stores nationwide. This incredible product may help to calm your pet when he needs it the most. They are tasty, chewy and palatable. It is easier to be proactive than to let your pet suffer during uncomfortable situations. Inappropriate pets behavior is one of the main reasons people end up rehoming their pets. Some bad pet behaviors are a result of feeling anxious and scared. Try Pet-EZE and you’ll see results!

Keep the yard or litter box clean. Ok, we know this one is yucky, but it has to be said. Keeping the yard clean of pet waste is sometimes a neglected human task. Even the cat’s litter box becomes a bit “overwhelmed”. If you know this has been a problem for you in the past, consider adding it to your list of resolutions. Having a clean yard or litter box is good for everyone. Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with, we know, especially when there’s snow and ice on the ground. But picking up after your pet is essential – we just don’t need to go into too many more details about it!

There are many resolutions we could offer up to you in this post. It’s hard not to mention more without sounding a bit bossy! Keep your dogs nails trimmed, don’t offer more than 2 treats a day, see a veterinarian once a year, resolve to walk your dog four times a week, etc., etc. There are just too may tips to mention. The most important thing we recommend doing this year is to love your pet unconditionally. Show them the love they deserve and 2016 will be a good year! Pets are beautiful, wonderful and caring creatures. It’s important for us to recognize this every chance we get!
