Not everyone has a traditional 9-to-5 job. Some people work from home completely, while others visit the office only a few days a week. Many people are in sales and work strictly from home or from the road. Whatever type of work you do and where, having a pet accompany you might not be that bad of an idea.

Having a pet as a co-worker is great for many reasons. Human coworkers are fantastic, too. There’s just something about a furry friend co-worker that makes us smile – and maybe even a bit more productive.

15 reasons to have a pet as a co-worker:

1. They won’t keep you talking for hours after a meeting.
2. Taking a dog for a short walk over lunch might be just what you need to break up the day.
3. Pets are therapeutic. If you’re having a hard day at work, you could always pet your cat for a few minutes as a stress reliever.
4. They are super cute to look at.
5. Your pet won’t steal your lunch out of the refrigerator.
6. They’re always there for you when you need someone to complain to.
7. They are great listeners!
8. Pets won’t complain to you about their workload.
9. Your dog won’t use up all the hand soap in the office bathroom without telling anyone.
10. Your cat won’t take all of the credit for the hard work done on a project.
11. They won’t be groggy or upset all day because they stayed out the night before and didn’t get enough sleep.
12. You won’t have to worry about hearing them on a business call in the cube next to you.
13. Your dog won’t tell all your personal work secrets, like where you hide the extra sticky note pads.
14. Your pet will not one-up you in a meeting. (Ok this does happen though on occasion as sometimes those puppy dog eyes and silly pet antics can completely take over a meeting)
15. Pets are great to have around!
